The more one looks around at their daily experience, the more one realizes that one cannot go through existence without other people on the planet. There is just no way that one is going to have an experience of life living in major cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York City without acknowledging that people are important.
As I have spent time playing with my grandson at the toy store, in the park, at a restaurant, one knows deep in their soul that this wonderful interaction of love is only possible because there is someone else taking responsibility for creating the toy store, operating a restaurant and a community dedicated to making life a terrific experience for children by creating a neighborhood park.
Look around as you prepare for the holidays and the feel the festive air refreshing you and acknowledge the people who make your life existence a full experience.

Enlightenment is Jagger Kabbalah
Who will save our poor, poor slebs from the evils of spiritual enlightenment? In the News has noticed the re-emergence of a trend so terrifying (and so last year) that we feel compelled to warn other slebs about its red-bracelet-wearing, blessed-water-drinking ways.
Yes, Kabbalah is back. And this time, it wants a Rolling Stone.
"Its promises of spiritual enlightenment and help with building a better life have already won over the first lady of pop," the Daily Mail reports today. "Now the esoteric cult of Kabbalah can add the name of Sir Mick Jagger to that of Madonna on its list of followers."
This claim is based on Mick being papped wearing red string around his wrist, which is indeed symbolic of belonging to the Kabbalah religion. It's not exclusive to the Kabbalah religion, however - but let's not let that put us off a good story.
The Mail goes on to report the many spiritual enlightenment-type claims Kabbalah makes, noting that: "[A] centre, in Jerusalem, promises to show followers how to 'remove every form of chaos, pain and suffering' and 'ultimately to erase death itself'."
Next they'll be promising the son of God will come back to life and walk the earth!
Need more proof that Jagger hearts Kabbalah? The story goes on to note that Jagger is beginning to possess the piety and modesty of living associated with spiritual enlightenment. For example:
"Last month, [Jagger and his partner L'Wren Scott] stayed at the 374-room Indian palace home of the Maharaja of Jodhpur and collected mystical trinkets for their £10m Chelsea home."

Late for the Dali Lama
We were geared up for a mind-altering experience with the Dalai Lama, but officials gave us only partial access to the teachings because we were late for the opening session.
Thousands of devotees converge on McLeod Ganj, part of the township of Dharamsala, where the Dalai Lama gives a limited number of free public lectures each year.
Those of us who did manage to file into the Main Temple were disappointed. We got as far as a leafy courtyard opposite a modest gated building, the Dalai Lama's residence.
An elderly bespectacled man with yellow and scarlet robes shuffled by, surrounded by minders. The Dalai Lama smiled at us before moving upstairs where he gave his lecture.
Too bad none of us spoke Tibetan. The radio frequency for English translation did not work.
So we sat there for an hour watching the Dalai Lama speak, sipping milky tea, smiling and laughing without understanding a word he was saying to an otherwise enraptured audience.

This Life & Essences
Gazing at all the people on the second floor of Nordstroms from the 3rd flow through the escalator, one gets a sense of all the interconnections between all of us walking the planet today. One then thinks about the family members and friends, and business collaborations.
Yudhishtara calls it the relationships of "essence". Let's talk about this in Satsang.

Milarepa & Satsang
There is a new movie coming out - "Milarepa" is a sort of "Batman Begins" version of the early life of renowned Tibetan saint Jetsun Milarepa (1052-1135). A follow-up film, which is due out in 2009, will cover the magical deeds and great powers of the legendary yogi and poet, who achieved enlightenment in midlife and blended Buddhism with sorcery according to the story.
For now, let us know that , "Milarepa" concerns the religious figure's hardscrabble origins, when he was a young man named Mila Thopaga (Jamyang Lodro). In this visually spectacular film shot near Tibet's border with India, "Milarepa" focuses on the misfortunes of Thopaga's family after the death of his wealthy father.
Let us discuss this further in Satsang.

Religious Travel for Enlightenment
Globus travel incorporated in conjunction with globusfaith.com has completed the first ever study of International religious travelers and has concluded that for many, traveling abroad is a spiritual experience, visiting magnificent cathedrals, ancient temples and other historic religious sites which can have a profound effect on anyone that encounters them. Increasingly, though, Americans are planning international vacations specifically designed to explore their religion and deepen their faith in God and spirit. While many experts agree this is one of the fastest growing vacation trends, until now the travel industry had no way to quantify these religious spiritual sojourners pilgrims.
Globus travel incorporated in conjunction with globusfaith.com has completed the first ever study of International religious travelers and has concluded most notably that the Globus Religious Travel Study revealed that one-third of all international travelers, 15.7 million U.S. adults, are likely to take a religious vacation in the future. Globus travel incorporated in conjunction with globusfaith.com has completed the first ever study of International religious travelers and has concluded that one in 10 international pleasure travelers have already been abroad on a faith-based vacation or approximately 4.5 million people.

The Power to Act - Part 3
Chosun.com, the Korean website has written an article that focuses on the power or non-power that the current Korean president has in the ability to take action; it further wrote that the German sociologist Ulrich Beck has said the era is gone when a government, once in power, could do anything by crooking a finger, and it is an illusion to think that political power can control everything. Nothing moves by presidential power alone any more.
Chosun.com, the Korean website has written that a saying has it that the next mirror to look at your face is never far away. This article was written not with the incumbent president uppermost in mind, but with the candidates who dream of presidential power, and the public who expects too much of the president.
These are the types of questions we tackle in Satsang.

Satsang is Where We Express It
The Times of India reported an article on Sunday that quoted a young man saying, “If I were to diagram my spiritual life, it would look something like this: A continual series of ups and downs, through all of my life, moving in a slow upward direction, although some of the lows would seem lower than before and some of the highs would seem higher than before.”
The article continued in the vain, ”When I picture this graph, it is not encouraging at first, because the longer I live, the further away the end of the graph appears. It is very much like the elusive end of the rainbow - the closer I get, the further away it seems.”
The article then turned it up a notch and began, “And yet there is something you cannot see on a one-dimensional diagram, something you cannot express with lines and words. There is a hidden excitement that begins to surface, a tingling of the soul that quickens my consciousness as i gaze at this trail of God in my life. I suddenly realise a great truth-the up-and-down syndrome of my life is the fingerprint of God on my soul! It is the remains of my struggle of faith, the ups and downs of my ongoing dialogue with the God. It is the way growth looks.”
Thoughts like these are difficult at times to express, but in Satsang it is the natural way.

Satsang in India - Sometimes
The following three paragraphs were taken off the Internet and are shared as a way of showing that the word Satsang has many meanings and that sometimes people get it right and other times they fall short.
In the middle they wrote, "Some people are now using the satsang style of worship and trying to contextualize more so that they can maintain their culture while forsaking the false beliefs," Wayne said. "Satsang style uses music similar to the Sikh singing. The leader would likely sit rather than stand, and some people are using contextualized terms like 'Sat Guru' (True Teacher) for Jesus."
Satsang, which literally means "true company," is a congregationally led worship. Often one teacher will sit and read a passage from the Bible, and the congregation will meditate on it and discuss it.
In this way, Sikh-background Christians can match their style of worship to the culture to which they are accustomed, while remaining devoted to following and sharing Christ.

Vedic Science
The Washington Post writes that in Hinduism, science and religion go hand in hand. The relationship between Hinduism and science goes back to the Indus Valley civilization, as old as 2500 BCE. The Washington Post writes that Vedic science appears to have included components of astronomy, biology, mathematics, chemistry, medicine, metallurgy, etc. The notion of atomic/molecular world was integrated into Vaiseshika school (between around 250 BCE to 100 CE) of Hindu philosophy.
The Washington Post writes that Yoga included some remarkable methods of breath/respiration control. Ancient sages were said to be acquainted with radar, microbiology, radioactivity, television, etc according to the Vedic reports. Epic heroes of Hinduism flew first aircrafts, as hard as this is to believe. In Hinduism, there is theory of Seven Worlds, Doctrine of the Ages of the World, religious categories of Space in Veda, reference to quantum mechanics in scriptures, as well as mysteries of Vedic/Puranic aeronautics and Tantrik biochemistry, etc, according to the all wise teachers.
There is too much to talk about in one column; come to Satsang and let us discuss it all.

Satsang and Festival
In India there was a major occasion with speakers and ceromonies and such, but before it all began, there was Satsang.
Hundreds of people participated in 'Stand up, speak out,' a pledge taking ceremony organised by the Art of Living Community in Mangalore in association with United Nations Millennium Campaign against poverty and for the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals. The Millennium campaign that kicked off at the UN's Millennium Summit in September, 2000 aims at a prosperous, safer and equitable world by year 2015.
The 'Stand up, Speak Out' campaign adopted by Art of Living attempts to impart the sense of responsibility to all citizens towards this goal. As part of this campaign, the pledge taking ceremony was organised in more than 194 countries across the globe on Tuesday and Wednesday.
In Mangalore, the members of AoL community assembled at Canara Girls High School grounds in Dongerkery on Wednesday evening to make their pledge for a better world. They held their hands together, leaving out none and repeated the pledge dictated by Mr B N R Rao. Former district-in-charge minister B Nagaraj Shetty made his presence during the ceremony. The ceremony was preceded by a satsang which took a peppy turn after the pledge.

Toltec Warriors
There is a discussion going on about the mounds where visitors to Toltec Mounds Archeological State Park would be able to view the ancient American Indian complex from one of its highest points under a proposal being considered by the park superintendent.
“When you stand up on top of Mound B, you sort of get it,” Superintendent James Wilborn said, referring to the mound that rises 39 feet from the ground. “This is pretty impressive. You gain a new appreciation for the construction of the mound. If we can protect the site and give visitors the opportunity to do that, why not pursue it ?”
Imagine if you and I could get into the Warrior way of thinking that created such a wonderful thing? Satsang is where we can discuss and learn the Way of the Warrior.

Hesse & Gibran
This year 2007 marks the 125th anniversary of Gibran Kahlil Gibran, a Lebanese-American poet and visual artist who many associate with enlightenment, and the 130th anniversary of Hermann Hesse, a German and Swiss novelist and thinker who became a great favorite of colleage students in the 1960's. The universal appeal of both Gibran and Hesse is very clear in their work, and more particularly in Hesse's novel "Siddhartha" and in Gibran's "The Prophet" which has great appeal to young people looking for the answers to questions.

Spiritual Enlightenment Journey to Drugs
It was reported today by a drug researcher that DRUG users will move from ecstasy towards hallucinogenic drugs in search of "spiritual enlightenment", Adelaide drug researcher David Caldicott says.
Dr Caldicott said people use drugs for specific "self-medicating" reasons and those reasons are changing, as in the search for enlightenment.
He said while more research into shifting drug trends needed to be done, Australian users tended to follow European trends, as in the search for enlightenment.
In Europe, they are turning off "pills" and tuning in to more "mystical" highs, he said.
People use such "hug drugs" as ecstasy – known as entactogenic drugs – to get a feeling of love and intimacy with others, he said, “as in the search for enlightenment.”
Now, more people are looking for a spiritual enlightenment and/or religious experiences and are turning to such hallucinogenic drugs as LSD or others derived from plants – cacti and mushrooms – which are known as entheogenic drugs.
Many are legal and available in the wild, in gardens and online.
Some, when they are ready, come to Satsang.

Buddhists & Tibetan Monks
Because Buddhists revere the Dalai Lama as the reincarnation of the bodhisattva of infinite compassion and as the spiritual and governmental leader of Tibet, a large portion of our reading and discussion in class has been focused on understanding him, wrote Brittany Messenger, an intern of Ithaca College.
Seated on his ornate pedestal surrounded by a dozen Tibetan monks, the Dalai Lama floored both myself and my 22 classmates with his humility and irrepressible joy.
His Holiness explained the approach to enlightenment through the practice of deep compassion, wisdom, and skill. His teachings urged the rejection of self-cherishing, in order to find release from greed, jealousy, and anger.
Explore, read, and see the many facets of discovery and then visit with Yudhishtara and talk and listen and interact at Satsang.

We Must Be Warriors
Gilda Cordero-Fernando wrote from the Phillippines today that though she is a senior woman she prefers the company of young people, in part because she finds them smarter, bigger, handsomer specimens than ever before and less fearful of breaking boundaries set by past generations. She believes there are those among them who could slay the dragons that besiege us within and without?
She believes the shadow self, the feared, unclaimed self, is our dragon within and that of other people. Since June of 2007, spiritual warriors, age 22 to 40, have been manifesting one by one in her life. She believes they are descended from the native Babylon of pre-colonial Philippines who were suppressed by the Spanish friars and driven underground.
We all must be strong, unafraid to embrace life and we must be warriors – not fighters, but vigilant in moving towards our goals.

Daily Star Writes Durga Puja
The Daily Star of India writes that the supreme Durga Puja 'worship of Divine Mother' the festival of pomp and power -- is the greatest socio-religious extravaganza of the Bengali Hindus and by now it has become a global celebration witnessed in almost all the major cities of the world, from supreme New York to Los Angles, from London to Belfast, from Durban to Tokyo from Caracas to Bombay. It is a mixture of spiritual sublimity and enlivened sociability that gives it a multi-dimensional excellence of spiritual truth and justice. The exquisite beauty of the Pratima (supreme idol), splendidly decorated by supreme artistic skill and supreme colorful devotional outfit adds additional grandeur to the whole spectrum of supreme jubilation and enlightenment. Bengali culture and Bengali literature indeed owe a lot to this prodigious socio-cultural fanfare and nostalgic articulations.

Satsang is Doctor's Order
The Indian times wrote today that there was a friend going through depression who was advised by her family physician to join satsang. She flared up: "Why satsang?" The physician thought for a moment and said: "Because satsang will give you a community. It will give you a sense of belonging. Two, it will draw you out of your limited self and will help you bond with your higher self".
Satsang helps build up a magnetic centre of spiritual life according to the Times of India; from such a centre flows energy which purifies and stabilizes our emotions. Traditionally satsang is associated with the singing of Naam kirtan, invoking the Supreme one or The Beloved, as Yudhishtara refers to the Unspeakable. This is only one aspect. Satsang has many dimen-sions. It may mean a gathering of like-minded people who pray together or discuss and debate issues which are of concern to humanity. Just as any good work is worship, similarly fruitful exchange of ideas which would benefit self and society is also satsang.

Satsang Structure for Enlightenment
Yudhishtara asked of us to do one thing of a structural nature in order to combat the structure of society.
Upon waking in the morning look around and acknowledge that the room is much the same as it was when you went to sleep and "Thank Your Beloved" for giving you the opportunity to live another day.
Before going to sleep, "Thank you my Beloved for this Day. I will rest in you tonight and if it happens I will awake tomorrow. If not, I will rest in you."

Satsang is Enlightenment - Tomorrow Night
There is a book review that concerns the second volume of The Great Treatise On The Stages Of The Path To Enlightenment continues the three-volume classic treatise of Tibetan Buddhism, first completed in 1402 – if you can imagine reading a book that is only 1402 years old. The author is Tsong-kha-pa (1357-1419), who was careful to base his insights upon Indian Buddhist literature, using citations as well as sayings from the masters to clarify his points of enlightenment and other opinions of the day.
It was considered a Great Treatise On The Stages Of The Path To Enlightenment in his day and is especially true for any student or follower of Buddhist teachings searching for means to put the wisdom and generosity of a divine being to practical application for comparison with Yudhishtara’s writings found on his website at www.yudhishtara.com.
For example, tenets of how to give unselfishly and for universal benefit are discussed at length in the book, but one such tenet cautions against storing unneeded goods rather than freely giving them, as the guilt to disburse the goods will eventually cause one to impulsively give to those who may not be in need, rather than see that the goods are given to those who need them most. One really has to look at the belief systems of the writer and reader to know if one is going to change one’s life based on the writings of a Tibetan Master who died over 500 years ago.
Satsang is tomorrow night at the Bhodi Tree.

Joy - Happiness - Satsang is Tomorrow
There is a time when you hear, “How often do you hear people say, "Erica is so full of joy"? It's more like, "Erica seems so happy"”. That's because happiness and joy are two different things, and more often we see people temporarily happy, rather than consistently filled with joy or is this all nonsense. Happiness is more like a mood, meaning it can change at any given moment or is it our fleshly nature that we are happy when things are going our way and if they aren't, then our flesh will surely show it or is this all nonsense talk. It's temporary says one or all of you. Joy is much more than just a feeling or is this a crock of talk. It is possessing great delight and gladness or so we say. I want internal joy, not external happiness is that the answer for all?
Satsang is tomorrow. Come share your ideas on joy and happiness or find a chapter from Yudhishtara’s free online book.

Satsang is Tomorrow!
Andrew Cohen has a magazine with this title. He claimed that he was enlightened but said that he had doubts about it all the time. So his definition of it included having doubts about himself. I am certain that I am not enlightened and have no doubts about it. But I am also certain about what enlightenment is. It is available to practically every person, but it is optional. This article could also be called East Meets West.

The Warrior Way
Roy E. Klienwachter writes in his article that from his experience, he has noticed that many of us are just too wimpy with our expectations of what we want from the universe. For most of us on this planet Earth, we just take what is handed out.
Klienwachter writes that knowing you have what you want is the fastest way to experience what you desire. Roy defines an expectation as confirmation of what you want. In other words, he writes, if you want a brand new, red, A280z Fast Mobile, why would you expect anything less? You expect to get the car that you want - and if you expected something less, why not ask for something less?
This type of thinking is called by Yudhishtara – being a warrior. One needs to be vigilant and active, not passive and unattentive.

Haley is Born Today!
My grand daughter Haley Roman came into the world today and it was a blessed event. To see her so peaceful was something to behold and I wondered how often we have had this moment.
Children are love and there is no greater reminder that it is the one constant that we have in our world at all times.

Satsang - October 17, 2007
Pay close attention to the coincidence in life and notice that it is expected.
Find a thought form that is troubling you and watch it manifest.
The phone is ringing with the person you are thinking about.
How does anyone know anything about anything.

Another Point of View
In a world full of stress, deadlines, needs, and scarcity, it is sometimes hard to determine that you have any power. Helping yourself can feel like an overwhelming and unattainable mission. However, we also live in a world full of new information and understandings. Ideas of self-empowerment and the feelings that these truths bring is testimony for a new way of thinking.
The universe is unlimited, and, if you choose to explore it, you will awaken to a whole new way of knowing---a whole new way of being. Spirit is available to all people at equal levels; there is no "better than," or "more deserving." The choice to raise your consciousness means to broaden your awareness, open up to new possibilities, step out of your comfort zone, and allow information other than what you already "know."

Rumi - Persian Sufi 800 Years Ago
Dzulkifli Abdul Razak is the vice-chancellor of Universiti Sains Malaysia and he writes today that “I am neither of the East nor of the West; no boundaries exist in my breast,” and this wonderfully open line belongs to the renowned Jalal al-Din Muhammad Balkhi, better known as Rumi, the widely acclaimed poet-cum- scholar Rumi was born on Sept 30, 1207, in Balkh in Central Asia, now part of Afghanistan.
His father, Baha’ al-DinWalad (Bahauddin), a religious scholar and a Sufi (Islamic mystic), had tremendous impact on him.
And Rumi, who later became a force in jurisprudence and religious matters, like his father, was made a university professor. Some even said it was Rumi who transformed the history of Persian literature.
Despite the fact that 800 years have since passed, Rumi’s legacy remains timeless and is still an interesting read today.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) saw it fit to designate this year as the International Year of Rumi with the underlying message of global peace.
Indeed, some of the themes in Rumi’swork focus on tolerance and the love and the remembrance of the divine as a way to achieve peace.
When writing about Moses, Jesus and Muhammad, he transcends the barriers between the East and West.
He constructed a religious-cultural bridge of deep understanding where “no boundaries exist in my breast”.

There Is Nothing To Find
Yudhishtara conducted satsang on June 13, 2007 and he had many wonderful thoughts to share. There were many profound thoughts shared, but perhaps the one that most caught my attention was the thought, "The number one easy thing is to realize that there is nothing to find."
This type of statement has been made many times, by many people, in many different locations, but how often do we take it serious. We want to meditate; we want to search; we tend to believe that if the journey is a difficult one, then it isn't worthwhile. It can't really be reality if I didn't do something out of the ordinary to "find" IT.
As always, one needs to contemplate the simplicity of the words and most important, accept the sentence for just a moment and taste it. Maybe it really is that simple. Discover the Beloved Mystery Within You in a very simple way. Take Yudhishtara at his word.

Coincidence or NOT
Do you believe in coincidence? The more one tracks their thoughts and events in life the less likely one is to believe in coincidence. Do we have free will to pick and choose events or only the ability to choose our ideas? These are many of the questions we address in Satsang once a month with Yudhishtara.
Send us your questions; bring your ideas; voice your beliefs. At Satsang there are no limitations.

Exploring the Rays - It's All One and the Same Source
Satsang is conducted by Yudhishtara once a month in Hollywood, California at the Bhodi Tree on Wednesday nights at 7:30AM, check the website for the next Satsang in October 2007 and his website at www.yudhishtara.com is there to provide a point of view that will help one understand that you are already enlightened or help you achieve the enlightened experience that you desire or to discover who you are while on the spiritual journey to enlightenment and a better understanding that all religions point the way.
In his chapter - Exploring the Rays - Yudhishtara talks about all religions pointing in the same directory, as he has in the previous chapter. It is worth reading the entire chapter of Exploring the Rays (five minute reading) and remember that it is always worth the visit to read “The Beloved Mystery Within You”.
“There’s a lot of wisdom in many traditions. There are also places in them that take away a lot of our strength, particularly if we want to be independent and powerful and fend for ourselves. They can make us very weak. And that is something to consider.
When I was studying all these different practices, I fell in love with all of them. It was really quite something. When I was doing them, I would really do them. I would delve into them. I would be with them. I would live that practice as much as I could. Then I couldn’t stay there anymore.
We have to see that everybody is different. We all go through different times in our lives with different ideas and concepts that we want to explore. Look at me—I explore these things. Why would I say that someone else doesn’t have the right to explore the same things? This is life.”

Today is Monday, September 24, 2007 and while Yudhishtara’s next Satsang is going to occur on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 in Hollywood, California at 9:30PM at the Bhodi Tree, his website at www.yudhishtara.com is there to provide a Spiritual Enlightenment point of view that one may or may not accept; today, we are sharing a chapter from Yudhishtara’s online book, “The Beloved Mystery Within You” titled, “Unity”. In his chapter - Unity - Yudhishtara talks about Unity with who you are, uniting with The Beloved. Take a read of Unity. Below is the first paragraph of the chapter.
“True surrender happens when,
within our own essence we say,
“I love you.
I want to be with you.
Show me the way.”
We make a step forward
and That that we can’t speak of
makes an even bigger step towards us.”

Yvonne's Birthday - September 17, 2007
It is Monday, September 17, 2007 and it is my wife Yvonne's birthday. This is a day of celebration and a time for joyous family gatherings. May all of your own birthdays be as much fun as we are planning on having today.
Yvonne began her spiritual quest through numerology. She would do a chart and the numbers spoke to her. She made friends with fellow readers, but the one who taught her the most about numerology was world renowned Michael Kassett.
The numbers are a road map that we believe we chose to unveil to ourselves one day during our life. The numbers are signpost, a guide or simply something to talk about over a drink or meal.
Happy Birthday Day Yvonne - we love you deeply.

If you are able to attend Satsang on September 19, 2007 than the Bhodi Tree Bookstore with Yudhishtara is where you want to be. This is a safe place to be. You do not have to fear that you are going to be mentally attached with several different belief systems that will push you to the limits of your patience and comfort zone. Satsang is safe; satsang is welcome. Satsang is freedom.
Yudhishtara has written in his book, "When we go to places where they have so-called holy teachers, nobody talks. Nobody says anything. We don’t get into big conversations with these teachers because the stage is set that they are some kind of superior beings. It is set up so we feel that they have characteristics we don’t have because we are inferior. No matter what we do, we will never be like them.
But here in satsang with what I am saying, we have anarchy! Everybody’s got an opinion about everything. Everybody has a different idea about how things should be. And how things should be is—free—and without set patterns or definitions."
Come to satsang with Yudhishtara and be free.

In his chapter - Finding Balance - Yudhishtara shares with us his thoughts on how to live and find the middle road and balance. Take a read of Finding Balance.
Below is a paragraph of the chapter. “We can all go back in our personal history and see events that had us so anxious, so excited, and so much on edge about how things would turn out. Then time passes, and those events don’t seem to be so important. But at the time they were happening, they were very important!”

Spread The Love
The website www.thestar.com shared with us a very beautiful article in their August 12, 2007 edition in which they begin by saying that personal enlightenment through solitary retreats and mantra recitations has always been the cornerstone of Buddhism, but one prominent guru has been challenging his followers to expand their spiritual horizons by being spiritual and physical “Messengers of Love”. Born Jigme Pema Wangchen in 1963, the spiritual head of the Drukpa lineage tells his devotees: “We do not live in this world independently on our own, and the practice of Bodhicitta essentially requires us to interact with other people and other beings in this universe. While we develop our Boddicitta, we should also get ourselves ready to face the world we live in with the love that we have developed through these practices.”
Launching the spiritual program “Live to Love” at their 800th anniversary celebration of the lineage, the 12th reincarnated Gyalwang Drukpa noted that Tibetan Buddhist masters and followers have always been perceived as a closed community that is uninvolved with communal happenings. “Some people find formal and serious practices very easy to carry out but when it comes to interacting with others, they are lost and frustrated,” related the Tibetan master. “‘Live to Love’ is an idea which has been in my mind for many years and I hope it will help at least those connected with me and my lineage to open up and share their love with everyone in their respective communities, irrespective of faith, nationality, cultural background and other conditions. When natural disasters strike our communities, where are we? When our living environment increasingly faces all kinds of threats, what are we doing to help?” the Tibetan Master asked his followers.
Given the restricted financial resources of the lineage, the spiritual leader outlined five key areas for humanitarian work: education, medical facilities, disaster relief and aid, heritage preservation and environmental protection.
The Tibetan Master also added very humbly in saying, “I do not know if I will be successful. I want my followers to love unconditionally and selflessly. Others people should do this too, and they don’t have to be my followers”. He also acknowledged that the philosophy of unconditional love is already widely practiced by other Buddhist traditions and that the Christians are most notable for their humanitarian work.
Under the leadership of this Tibetan Master, and with financial assistance from many overseas sanghas (congregations), the master’s sect is restoring and upgrading existing monasteries. At the top on his list is the Namdruk monastery in Tibet, which was completely destroyed during the Cultural Revolution (1966-76) waged by the Chinese communist party. Reconstruction of the monastery began in 1986 on a small part of the original centre and spiritual retreats are being revived, slowly.
To keep the practices at the monastery and nunnery alive, there are sponsorship programs for orphaned young monks, Tibetan refugees and those from poor nomadic families in the remotest parts of the Himalayan. The status of female practitioners, especially the nuns, has been given a boost, too. The most celebrated nun of the lineage is possibly the English woman Tenzin Palmo (formerly Diane Perry), who spent 12 years in solitary retreat in a cave high up in the Himalayan mountains. She challenged the institutionalized belief that only males could attain spiritual enlightenment.

So what does this mean? It means that we must not postpone for too long what it is that we want to do today. It’s all right to postpone some things—but not too much. If we postpone too much, as time passes we end up in regret.

A Prayer The World is Talking About
This story is growing and for those who haven't seen it, we bring you The Prayer the world is discussing this week:
This Prayer was given in 1996, but is probably more relevant today than ever. When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new sessions of the Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but this is what they heard: THE PRAYER
Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask Your forgiveness and to seek Your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, "Woe to those who call evil good," but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.
We confess:
We have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your Word and called it Pluralism.
We have worshipped other gods and called it multiculturalism.
We have endorsed perversion and called it alternative lifestyle.
We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.
We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.
We have killed our unborn and called it choice.
We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.
We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem.
We have abused power and called it politics.
We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition.
We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression.
We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.
Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free.
Guide and bless these men and women who have been sent to direct us to the center of your will. I ask it in the Name of Your Son, the living Savior, Jesus Christ.
Amen.
The response was immediate. A number of legislators walked out during the prayer in protest. In six short weeks, Central Christian Church, where Rev. Wright is pastor, logged more than 5,000 phone calls with only 47 of those calls responding negatively. The church is now receiving international requests for copies of this prayer from India, Africa, and Korea.
Commentator Paul Harvey aired this prayer on "The Rest of the Story" on the radio and received a larger response to this program than any other he has ever aired.
With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep over our nation and wholeheartedly become our desire so that we again can be called one nation under God.

Searching in Sedona
Marija Potkonjak wrote an article for the Denver Tribune on September 1, 2007 in which she talked about some of the things people encounter when visiting Sedona. It is much as Yudhishtara talks about people spending a lot of time searching, looking for someone to tell them the answers. Below are a few interesting stories that Marija tells, but afterwards, please feel free to visit Yudhishtara’s website at www.yudhishtara.com and read a chapter or two from his free book, “The Beloved Mystery Within You”.
AURA PHOTOGRAPHY
Science is catching up to the New Age movement in Sedona. Some people want to see their auras (loosely defined as a vibration of color defining your personality type). After the vortex tour, I stop at Mystical Bazaar on Highway 89A. I want to see if my aura will be the same when it’s photographed.
Mystical Bazaar is one of several shops to offer aura photography. Sit in front of a computer with your hand on a biofeedback probe, and in a few minutes you’ll see your aura on a computer screen. A large aura indicates high energy levels, while a whole color scheme reveals your personality.
My aura flashes yellow and green initially. Baroni decides to leave me at the computer for 10 minutes so I can relax. Eventually my aura stabilizes and a vibrant swath of indigo surrounds me. The bunny and rainbow opt out of the photograph. For $35, I receive a 23-page report outlining their auras and chakra levels with bar charts and graphs.
“They like that they get a report so they can see everything in the computer,” says Masti Baroni, the owner of Mystical Bazaar. “Some are good, some are weird. You can see where you need to work and you can see what your personality type is.”

Gnosticism - The Route to God is Through Individual Insight
Douglas Todd wrote yesterday, Monday, September 03, 2007, for the Vancouver Sun that Robertson Davies, one of Canada's greatest novelists and most respected, was drawn to the early Christian "heresy" of Gnosticism before it became as popular as it is now today in 2007. When Douglass Todd interviewed Robertson Davies, author of Fifth Business and Rebel Angels in 1994, one year before his death, Davies said Gnosticism was not widely known because its history had been written by its enemies, the patriarchs of the orthodox Christian church.
"It's only just now that people are beginning to sift out what it may have really been about. And of course the church is very very much down on it. I have a very unpopular theory of why that is." Davies's theory about why Gnosticism, which comes from the Greek word for "knowledge," was shoved underground has now become almost mainstream, thanks to the incredible success of the book and movie, The Da Vinci Code, as well as groundbreaking Bible discoveries.
Davies believed the Gnosticism Christian sect, which rose up soon after the death of Jesus, was suppressed because church fathers didn't like their claim that Jesus taught the route to God was through individual insight, a goal associated with Buddhist and Hindu enlightenment.
There is no doubt Gnostic ideas have become a force in popular culture, especially through movies such as The Da Vinci Code and The Matrix series, as well as Blade Runner and Minority Report (both based on science fiction novels by Philip K. Dick.) Gnosticism also shaped the influential psychologist Carl Jung, the poetry of William Blake, the Theosophy of Helen Blavatsky and the Jewish mystical tradition known as Kaballah, which the singer Madonna has recently embraced.
Douglas Todd wrote, “Gnosticism is in vogue in part because of the waning power in the West of the once-mighty Christian church. Sometimes the backlash against the church has a knee-jerk quality to it, but it is nevertheless luring more people to feel suspicious about whether church authorities are telling the complete story about the origins of Christianity.”
Here's how Davies puts his thoughts about Gnosticism in my book, Brave Souls: "The church worked on the theory that salvation is free; as long as you believed, you were saved. But the Gnostics thought you had to have some brains. The Gnostics taught that salvation, or enlightenment, could only be achieved through an inner journey."
Davies, despite being an active Anglican, maintained the early church fathers also couldn't stomach Gnosticism's heterodox emphasis on Sophia, the Greek word for wisdom, which represents a feminine aspect of the divine.

In his chapter - Service - Yudhishtara talks about service in doing for others and in doing for ourselves. Take a read of Service. Below is the first paragraph of the chapter.
“What a life Mother Teresa had. That’s extreme service! Can you imagine spending your whole life with people who are suffering so much. To be giving every day under those conditions and not be concerned that you are going to catch one of the diseases they have. And then to balance that with all the rules and regulations of the church that she had to follow. But her love for the Beloved gave her strength. There are many beings like that. And there are many beings like that who don’t get any publicity at all.”

The Key to Manifestation - Know Your Spirituality
The Times of India has written a beautiful poem in their Sunday, September 02, 2007 online edition concerning the subject of spirituality. It is a poem that everyone should be exposed to and so on this day it is presented at Yudhishtara.Blogspot.com for all the world to enjoy that hasn’t already read it at:
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Opinion/Sunday_Specials/Mind_Over_Matter/MIND_SET_
Sense_and_spirituality/articleshow/2330249.cms.
There is no byline and so I am unable to provide the authors name, but suffice it to say it is a beautiful poem.
The poem begins: Being spiritual or not spiritual isn't an option. You were born spiritual and everything you do is spiritual. So what is the deal with trying to be spiritual, trying to find your path of enlightenment?
I believe we are programmed to believe we are not spiritual unless we have a religious belief. For centuries believers in organized religion have been trying to recruit non believers and convert them to their faith.
The bottom line for them is it's simply good business and nothing else. Long before there were institutions of worship, there were millions of people who were very aware of their own spirituality and they understood the connection between themselves, others and their environment.
Although many of us are not aware of our spirituality it doesn't mean we are not spiritual. It is spirit which moves the body, that knows it's alive and its connection to the environment. Awareness of this is what most people are lacking. The benefits of knowing ones true nature or spiritual connection are many.
The poem continues: If you lived in a dry land and everyday was a great effort to find and gather water, would it not benefit you to know that by digging below your feet you would find all the water you could use?
If you were homeless and you spent your days sitting on the same corner begging for food, would it not benefit you to know that there is a free soup kitchen only two blocks away?
If you were in the market for a new car and your local dealer did not have what you were looking for, would it not benefit you to know that in the next town, they have the exact model you're looking for?
The poem continues: Knowledge is power; the awareness of one's own spiritual nature is power. The most amazing thing is we do not have to do anything or look anywhere to be spiritual.
We simply have to know we are already there. The benefits of this knowledge are infinite opportunity to experience anything we desire. Would this knowledge serve you to know you can have abundance, good relationships, love, or anything you desire simply by knowing that you can? The knowledge of your own spirituality can open doors to places you never thought were possible. The big difference between believing and knowing is in knowing you already have it, you are already experiencing it.
The poem makes a key point: In believing or having faith that you will have a thing, it is something that may occur in the future. In knowing you are the spiritual one who will create what you wish to experience, you have access to immediate delivery and it is not incumbent upon the whims of someone or something else.
The greatest secret to the benefits of spiritual awareness is the power that it holds. Thinking, believing, trusting or having faith that you are spiritual does not take you there – it is the awareness of being spiritual which makes it so.
It's within the acceptance of being this power that you are able to use it.
Humanity knew this a very long time ago, but gave up the responsibility for it because it feared its own imagination and the awesome limitlessness of its capabilities.
The poem continues: Power is non-power unless it's used. The responsibility for this power was too much for primitive man. Instinctively man still knows his connection to this power that never went away. He chose a life of limited power and a lifetime of trying to find it. Man generally fears to think too big. He is still very primitive in his thinking and his concerns are with himself and his little empire.
There are other places, other realms yet to be discovered that will require him to be more powerful. Until he is ready to claim back his spirituality and power he will never leave this earth.
The good news is that you can have it all now through complete acceptance of what you truly are. Spirituality is worthless until you know its value and place in your own awareness.
As you read this, you would have a greater understanding of why you do not have complete authority over your life or have limited power.
You would know why things do not always work out the way you want them to that you have accepted less because you are not ready to accept what is already yours.

Below is the first paragraph of the chapter.
“We spend so much time inquiring about other people. We find out many things about them—who they are, how they define themselves. We discover that all of us generally define ourselves by our accomplishments, our education, our family, our nationality, our age, our health, and all kinds of things that are transient.”

All Religious Roads Lead to Same Place
Today is September 1, 2007 and Satsang is conducted by Yudhishtara once a month in Hollywood, California at the Bhodi Tree and his website at www.yudhishtara.com is there to provide a point of view that will help one understand that they are already enlightened or help them to achieve the enlightened experience that they desire or to discover who you are while on the spiritual journey to enlightenment and a better understanding that all religions point the way. In his chapter - Rays To The Sun - Yudhishtara talks about all religions pointing in the same directory. It is worth reading the entire chapter (five minute reading) Rays to the Sun and remember that it is always worth the visit to read “The Beloved Mystery Within You”.
“Every religion, theology, and philosophy that we want to imagine, are all rays to the sun. They are all rays! Depending on where we were born, who our parents are, what traditions we were raised with, which neighborhood we live in, whom we speak to and where we happen to be, we catch a ray. And it either takes us somewhere or it doesn’t.”

“I’ve been helping a friend of mine who is the president of a major company which is facing a lot of difficulties. I’ve been going there almost every day. He’s trying to figure out what would be the best way for them to stop losing money and to stop laying off people.”

“I’ve got to remind myself many times that it’s my life. Many times I see that other people want to tell me how to have my life. When I really look at it, I sometimes wonder if I am being arrogant to want to run my own life. Is it better to have somebody else run my life? Is my life to be somehow or another run another way? I don’t know.”
